Esteghlal midfielder Masharipov to undergo surgery in Qatar

TEHRAN – Jaloliddin Masharipov, the Uzbekistani midfielder of Esteghlal who suffered a ligament rupture, has traveled to Qatar to undergo surgery.
After finding a chance to step onto the field in the match against Foolad Hormozgan, he suffered an injury and was forced to leave the field.
Tests on his leg indicate that Masharipov’s ligament is ruptured and he will have to stay off the field for several months.
The player has gone to Qatar for his treatment period, and it is planned that Masharipov will submit his leg to the surgeons’ scalpel in this country to achieve full recovery as soon as possible.
It seems this injury could cause the Uzbekistani star of Esteghlal to miss the 2026 World Cup.
The injury saga of this player goes back several months. To the days before the league started, when Esteghlal held a pre-season training camp in Turkey.
Masharipov sustained a severe ligament injury during a friendly match against Sepahan in the summer. At that time, Esteghlal’s medical staff announced that the Uzbekistani player must undergo surgery, but he refused that and said he would recover through Uzbekistani doctors’ methods without surgery.
Masharipov completed his four-month treatment under the supervision of some Uzbekistani and German doctors to return to the field but he will have to undergo surgery and will likely miss the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
