Iran freestyle team defend title in 2026 Asian C’hips

The Iranian team finished in first place with 178 points, followed by India (162 points) and Japan (127 points), Vatan News reported
The Iranian freestylers claimed four gold medals, one silver and three bronzes.
Milad Valizadeh in 57kg, Kamran Ghasempour in 86kg, Mohammadmobin Azimi in 92kg and Amirhossein Zare in 125kg claimed four golds.
Amirali Azarpira (97kg) seized Iran’s sole silver in the competition.
Ahmad Mohammadnejhad in 61kg, Sina Khalili in 70kg, and Amirmohammad Yazdani in 74kg snatched three bronzes.
The 2026 Asian Wrestling Championships took place in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan from April 6 to 12.
Iran Greco-Roman team had previously won the title in the event.
Heavyweight wrestler Amirhossein Zareh also reached the final and was set to compete in his championship bout in the closing stages of the event.
With this result, Iran once again secured the Asian team title in freestyle wrestling, reinforcing its strong position in the sport across the continent.
