A difficult task ahead of Iran: 2026 Asian Handball Championship

TEHRAN – Iran’s men’s handball team will start the 2026 Asian Men’s Handball Championship with a match against Saudi Arabia on Thursday. The Persians are drawn in a tough Group D along with Saudi Arabia, Japan and Australia.
Team Melli will face Australia and Japan on Jan. 17 and 19, respectively.
Saudi Arabia and Japan are Asian powerhouse teams and Iran will have a difficult task ahead to win the group.
Iran, headed by Rafael Guijosa, held two training camps in Bahrain and Spain as part of preparation for the event.
The Asian Handball Championship will be held in Kuwait from January 15 to 29.
