Persepolis lose to Fajr Sepasi: 2025/26 PGPL

TEHRAN – Persepolis missed the chance to move to the top of Iran’s 2025/26 Persian Gulf Pro League (PGPL) after a 2-1 defeat to Fajr Sepasi on Sunday.
The match, held at Shiraz’s Pars Stadium, saw Hossein Shahabi give the hosts an eighth-minute lead, which Reza Shekari equalized for Persepolis in the 21st minute. Mehdi Sharifi netted the winner for Fajr Sepasi in the 65th minute.
Later in the day, Esteghlal and Tractor played to a goalless draw. Shams Azar were held 0-0 by Esteghlal Khuzestan, and Aluminum lost to Gol Gohar 2-1 in Arak.
Table toppers Sepahan lead the standings with 31 points, while Esteghlal and Persepolis sit level on 28 points each.
